COUNTING MY STARS

I am counting my stars
My stars are from God
Up above the stars are numerous
Down below there are no stars
But emptiness and dryness prevail
Where my stars are situate
So is the gaze of my heart
Looking up always no matter the situation
Is like standing on my distress without stress
Is like climbing to the top with ease
So when is like I’m losing it
I will just lift my head up
And start counting my stars
God made the stars for my glory
God made the stars to enable me find
My way to the strength within
The stars are uncountable
Stars are as numerous as sands in the sea
So also are my blessings.

Freetown, when God made thee, He made thy soil alone Then threw the rich remainder in the sea. Small inlets cradled He, in jet black stone. Small bays of transient blue He lulled to sleep Within jet rocks, filled from the Atlantic deep. Then God let loose wee harbingers of song.
