CHAPTER SIX. THE GOLD LENDER OF BABYLON

Rodan, the Spearmaker had just been favoured by the king with fifty pieces of gold for making a very beautiful sword. He was excited and at the same time confused as to what to do with the gold he just acquired so that he do not lose it and regret at the end of the day.
So he approached the money  lender, Mathon for advice on how to make good use of his gold to yield good profit.
Rodan’s sister wants him to lend the gold to her husband but Rodan is put in a tight corner of not wanting to displease his sister but at the same to secure his investment.
But Mathon had to put it straight to him by saying ‘if you desire to help a friend, do so in a way that will not bring thy friend’s burden upon thyself’. He went further by saying that gold is easy to lend . but if it is lent unwisely, then it is difficult to get back.
According to Manthon, it is alright to help those in trouble. But help  must be given wisely, lest , in our desire to help we but take upon ourselves the burden that belongs to another.
He advised Rodan not to be swayed by sentiments when it has to do with his treasure (money). Finally, you would agree that better a little caution than a great regret
